About Us

Advanced Light Devices

Advanced Light Devices, LLC is a pioneering medical technology company founded in the early 2000s, dedicated to advancing innovative, light-based therapies for a wide range of complex health conditions. With a mission to help transform modern healthcare, we focus on developing non-invasive solutions that harness the power of light to support treatment across infectious, neurological, and chronic diseases.

At the center of our portfolio is the Hemealumen® Polychromatic Device, a cutting-edge platform designed to target both viral and bacterial pathogens. Our latest innovation, the Hemealumen 5.0, represents the 15th generation of this technology—reflecting decades of research, refinement, and clinical insight. By utilizing targeted polychromatic light, the device is designed to disrupt pathogen activity while supporting the body’s natural processes.

Beyond infectious disease applications, our technology is being explored for its potential role in addressing neurodegenerative conditions such as ALS and Parkinson’s disease, offering new possibilities in areas where treatment options remain limited.

With over 25 years of experience in Ultraviolet Blood Irradiation (UVBI) and Photodynamic Therapy (PDT), our team has been at the forefront of integrating advanced photosensitizers  particularly Methylene Blue into therapeutic protocols. This compound, with a long established safety profile and extensive clinical history, plays a critical role in enhancing the effectiveness of light-based treatments.

We continue to lead innovation through the integration of advanced LED technologies, improving light penetration and therapeutic precision at the cellular level. Our ongoing research efforts focus on expanding the capabilities of light-based therapies to address viral, bacterial, fungal, and malignant conditions.

Advanced Light Devices has supported clinical exploration and treatment initiatives in regions around the world, including Africa and the Caribbean, contributing to the global advancement of light based medical technologies.

Driven by science, innovation, and a commitment to better patient outcomes, Advanced Light Devices is proud to be at the forefront of the next generation of medical technology.

Our Team

Eugene Barnett

Eugene “Gene” Barnett has been researching and developing ultraviolet (UV) based therapeutic technologies since 1998. His work has centered on advancing light-based treatment approaches designed to support clinical innovation in challenging health conditions. Beginning in 2001, Gene participated in treatment initiatives in Tanzania and later Uganda, working with patients in advanced stages of illness and observing notable clinical responses. He subsequently led a study at EKO University in Nigeria involving 57 malaria patients, where rapid symptom resolution was reported within a short treatment period. Today, Gene continues to guide research and development efforts internationally, with ongoing work in Nigeria, Mexico, and the Philippines, focused on expanding the application of light-based medical technologies.

Dennis Trailer

Dennis Trailer has led Advanced Light Devices, LLC since 2019 with a focus on advancing innovative medical technologies. Dennis began his career with Johnson & Johnson, where he held roles in sales, regional management, and project management across multiple U.S. markets. He later co founded MicroMedical Devices, Inc., where he played a key role in developing the first transcutaneous external pacing system for the treatment of bradycardia, as well as a patented transesophageal pacing system used in both anesthesia and electrophysiology settings. He has also contributed to the advancement of minimally invasive cancer treatment technologies through his work with IceCure, Inc., supporting the development and clinical adoption of cryoablation systems for early-stage breast, liver, and kidney cancers. His efforts included collaboration with leading physicians and major medical institutions across the United States and internationally. Dennis holds a business degree from Oakland University and has completed advanced studies in electrophysiology, business, and finance through programs affiliated with the University of Michigan and Johnson & Johnson.
